Ariel Motors Announces Atom Cup For Ariel Atom Track-Car
Ariel Atom Cup – Atomic Race Management in partnership with Ariel Motor Company has announced a new one-make race series for their Ariel Atom track-car called Atom Cup. The new Atom Cup is a new spec racing series, similar to the Ferrari Challenge, Porsche Cup, and Lamborghini Trofeo. The races is set to begin in 2013 and will be held at Brands Hatch, Silverstone, and other tracks in the U.K.
For Atom Cup series, Ariel has transformed the standard Atom into the Ariel Atom Cup. The car has received a full rollover protection for driver’s safety, a new body kit, Yokohama racing tires, and Ohlins dampers. All cars will be powered by a 2.0-liter Honda Type R i-Vtec 4-cylinder engine that delivers a total output of 245 HP. This 4-cylinder engine will sprint the car from 0 to 60 mph in just 3.1 seconds and reach the top speed of 145mph.
Ariel will be offering 3 different packages for the Ariel Atom Cup. The Bronze package includes the Atom Cup car, a pit space and entry fees for all the races at a price of £53,195 plus VAT (about $83K at the current rates). The Silver package which adds one race assistant and one new set of tires per weekend at price of £59,955 plus VAT (about $93K at the current rates). The final is the Gold package which adds maintenance between events, secure car storage, and transport to all the race weekends at price of £69,652 plus VAT (about $108K at the current rates).
